As of this month, digital radio is available in the Učka tunnel, where a pilot project of DAB+ broadcasting in road tunnels was launched. The activities of testing and implementation of the equipment started in January 2023, with the ultimate goal of high-quality coverage of that tunnel with a DAB+ MUX 1 signal.

Recognizing the importance of DAB+ signal road tunnel coverage and with the aim of gaining additional experience and testing all the possibilities of this system in tunnels, OIV started activities on this project last year in collaboration with Bina Istra d.d.

The project will be implemented using parts of the existing broadcasting infrastructure through which analog FM radio signals are transmitted in the tunnel, with the addition of new DAB+ equipment, all of which is entirely OIV’s investment.
